Energy management for the enterprise.

The Budderfly system was designed with one purpose in mind, to help you measure, manage, and control energy consumption in a commercial environment. Budderfly fills the gaps that most energy management systems do not address, granular visibility and control. Its a proven fact that with increased visibility into your consumption, you'll reduce your usage, that's why Budderfly tracks energy consumption down to every single light switch, outlet, and power strip. Its like bringing the smart grid into your enterprise, all without modifying your existing building wiring.

Lighting solutions.

Budderfly offers a host of lighting devices including switches and integrated power packs for your building's occupancy sensors. Coupled with the Budderfly software system, our devices are a cost effective and energy efficient way to control lighting, view lighting consumption in real-time, analyze data, and track inefficiencies. The system can automatically switch lights off or on with a preprogrammed control schedule managed from the Budderfly hosted application.

Using Budderfly's dimming Power Packs, our software interacts with a photocell to automatically adjust illumination levels based on ambient light. Budderfly also integrates with Automatic Demand Response providers, allowing you to automatically shed and control individual loads during a demand response event.

Plug load management.

Plug loads are devices that plug into a building’s electrical system including everything from computers and printers, to vending machines, water coolers, and manufacturing machinery. Plug loads can consume energy 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, even though offices are only occupied for about one-third of the time. Many devices even consume electricity in standby mode if they are left plugged in. According to the DOE, plug load energy consumption is anticipated to increase by 49% from 2014 to 2030.

As lighting and HVAC systems become more efficient, plug loads continue to elevate as a percentage of the total building energy use. Budderfly offers several smart devices including outlets and a power strip that measures and controls plug loads down to the device level. With Budderfly you’ll be able to control devices remotely, isolate unnecessary loads, automate your plug consumption, and educate managers and employees to promote efficiency and reduce plug load expense by as much as 40%.

Energy metering.

Budderfly has incorporated the ability to integrate and communicate with various third-party sub-panel meter companies. When using sub-panel metering within the system, Budderfly can provide panel measurement consumption of disaggregated load types to be able to “drill down” and provide a micro, granular level view of where energy is being consumed using the Budderfly devices. Having a better understanding of the energy use allows Users to identify areas for efficiency and better accountability for energy costs.

By providing actionable and real time energy consumption data to building owners and operators through energy monitoring commissioning of load types, electrical energy consumption can be reduced. Some of the benefits of sub-metering include providing accurate measurement and verification of an implemented project, identifying peak demand load spikes, and the ability to establish best practices by allocating energy expenses to different departments, pieces of equipment, or load sources.

HVAC integration.

HVAC typically consumes the most energy within most commercial buildings, so strategies to curb usage are critical for commercial energy expense management.  Budderfly integrates with a third-party commercial thermostat to provide not only collection of heating and cooling measurement data, but also the ability to control HVAC set points and/or assure the other BAS HVAC systems are operating efficiently while assuring maximum occupant comfort.

Many HVAC systems are under or poorly controlled, causing them to waste energy.  For Users who have an existing BMS, you can easily integrate Budderfly using the Budderfly BACnet gateway to provide more granular monitoring and alerts into the existing BMS. By providing users with meaningful information, automatic demand response integration, and, easy to use control features,   Budderfly maximizes the opportunities for energy savings.

Building commissioning.

Budderfly provides for regular both periodic and continuous monitoring of your lighting, HVAC, and plug load consumption.  Budderfly provides a consistent stream of alert notifications that isolates inefficiency and highlights savings opportunities to assure optimized energy use while educating users of best practices.  The ability to benchmark against energy conservation projects anytime, visualize real -time improvements, add LEED points, and assure return on investment performance are just come of the benefits of the Budderfly solution.

Budderfly architecture.

Budderfly delivers energy savings through multi-layered architecture and software infrastructure that are robust, scalable, and secure. In the customer facility layer, Budderfly applies its IoT devices (light switches, outlets, power strips, meters, etc.) and adds fine-grained sub-metering and control points to measure and manage energy consumption. The Budderfly cloud layer provides a high performance data warehouse for real-time analytical processing, machine learning, and historical data reporting. The rich functionality of this layer is scalable, cost-effective and hyper reliable.

All Budderfly applications are intuitive and easy to use across a wide variety of platforms, from web-based workstations to mobile devices. The Budderfly EEM dashboard is a collection of widgets that can be shaped to address users’ needs. The MyBudderfly mobile application supplies individualized energy control and reporting. The innovative technologies that make up the Budderfly architecture support a broad range of applications throughout the enterprise and drive stakeholder value at all levels.
